For-Credit Courses
These 3-credit classes have no prerequisites and are designed to be taken in any order. A discounted tuition rate of $250 (or $125 for auditors) is available for students who are registered with UNL Newman Center. Please designate this in your application and we will be in touch with details.
Course Calendar: For-credit courses for Spring 2025 begin Tuesday, January 21st. We follow the UNL Academic Calendar for all breaks and major points in the semester.
Credit Transfer: Accredited through St. Gregory the Great Seminary, these courses may be transferred to other undergraduate institutions. For UNL students, a course equivalency has been established for elective credit. With advisor approval, they may also meet ACE (often ACE 5 or 8) and other requirements. Upon completion of the course, students will need to request a credit transfer from St. Gregory the Great Seminary.
HUM 267 - The City and Civilization: Rome and its Successors

Course Description: This course looks at the great questions and ideas raised in ancient Rome and the many cultures that arose from it from a multi-disciplinary approach. We explore the interplay between literature, history, philosophy, art, and theology inside and between these ancient and medieval cultures and their relevance to today’s world. No prerequisites.

Certificate in Catholic Thought: This course satisfies 3 of the Core credit hours necessary to complete our Certificate in Catholic Thought.
THL 272 - Conversion: Theological, Anthropological, and Literary Elements of Human Transformation

Course Description: What causes a person to believe in God or change his or her way of life? What roles do memory, imagination, intellect, and will play in such transformations? Based on both ancient and modern accounts of conversion, this seminar-style course will explore the nature and dynamics of Christian transformation from literary, anthropological, and theological perspectives. No prerequisites. No prerequisites.
